This is a great toy! My 3 1/2 mo. old Welsh Corgi puppy loves it, along with several other nylabone products. Unlike some of the other toys out there, it's holding together well and gives him hours - literally! - of chewing pleasure. Which gives me hours of relief from barking and other signs of puppy frustration. This, along with his nylabone keys and triple rings, are constant companions...and the older dogs like them too...although, I'm not certain this is a good thing as it incites puppy barking when they steal it from him... ;-)

I purchased this one for my 10 wk old chihuahua pup who's not a terribly aggressive chewer unless he's in active playtime. He's about a pound in weight at the moment and will be about 4lbs at maturity. These were harder than the clear flexi-bone he occasionally uses if I encourage playtime, and gummier in texture than the really really hard dura-chew, which don't work for me at all.It was also too large, although it said "puppy pacifier" and in my experience they were too hard for him at this stage, but I will save to offer in later months. I have now realized that although it comes in different sizes, the size in inches or at all were not specified. I got the one labeled "small".Pros:-Bacon scent is only obvious if toy is held right up to your nose, which is pleasantly discreet.-Great if your dog is a very aggressive chewer.If you have a small toy breed (1lb-5lb), this toy may be too large and/or hard.

Do not believe that ingesting plastic is good for my puppy! May 18, 2011

I have a Boston Terrier and since she is teething, was hoping this would be a good "chew" toy. I was wrong. In less than a month, Trixie has destroyed this toy and, I am afraid, digested several bits of plastic. I hate spending money on junk.

First of all, my 10 year old german shephard is having less trouble with her back legs now that she has been on this "treat" for five weeks. It takes a little while but it really works. Also, the price here is so much less than on the website run by the gentlemen that does the commercial. I will not be without it. My dog is so much more active now.

I got my 3 month old puppy this starter set. Like most reviewers, my puppy:a: chewed on the flexi-chew chicken bone for a long timeb: ignored the white durachew bonec: devoured the edible chew bacon boneI will definitely buy her the flexi-chew bones. People are right about the pieces breaking off in chunks larger than `rice' size, but the package says that "rice-sized pieces should pass." I don't think that means it will break in rice-sized pieces; it means that in the event a rice-sized piece breaks off and the dog swallows it, it should pass...should I type rice-sized piece one more time? I just did. My pup chewed off pieces that were consistently larger than rice-sized (Oh! Did it again!) and spent a good 5min. trying to chew each piece down if I could not stick my fingers in her throat to grab it. I crate my pup and would not let her have this bone in the crate because of the pieces that break off. Also, it is down to a size that would easily fit in her mouth so that she could attempt to swallow, which means it is going in the garbage for a brand new one.The white durachew bone will be saved for when she has her adult teeth and wants to chew on something forever.The edible bacon bone will be left in the wind since she gets treats as it is. I was honestly thinking, "WTF?" when she crushed it in 5min until I realized it was the edible chew. She loved it, but it might've spoiled her dinner...probably not, but still...it's funny to think that.Anyway, is it worth it to get this pack? Yes. One Nylabone is about $4. You get this pack for about $7. If your pup doesn't go for the durachew now, s/he will in a month or 2 (depending on age). You can also see how your pup reacts to the bacon bone: okay potties or loose potties. Then, you have an idea of where you should you invest your money.

Warning to other dog owners: the edible Nylabones are extremely dangerous for dogs with a big ; greedy appetite. My dog swallowed it whole within 30 seconds of giving it to her and choked on it. She was fully unconscious before I could dislodge the bone and breathe into her nose to bring her back to life... We almost lost her over this bone. If your dog is a greedy chewer or eater, then please don't buy edible Nylabones.

The Nylabone chews are wonderful for your puppy for about 1 month. We bought a border collie who just loves to chew and for the 1st month these were perfect for him to start chewing those (Not our shoes, hands, etc.) Once your puppy is about 2 months you might want to get him/her a different style of bone because the beacon flavors once break apart into a million pieces all over the floor. So we had to up grade our pup to an adult chew. But these are great to get your pup started!

Regardless of the coating - this is still RAWHIDE October 23, 2009

I purchased based on reviews here and elsewhere about all the wonderful things these chews accomplished on dogs teeth and the price per unit was so much less than the "Greenies" I have been using. Upon receipt I immediately noticed that these are just large rawhide strips with a coating on them. They are not even particularly thick rawhide. Rawhide in any form is very dangerous and you must monitor your dog very closely when they are chewing on these. My Great Dane is not a "swallow whole" kind of eater - he tries to chew up even the tiniest training treats before swallowing them, BUT with rawhide strips like these he will chew on the whole piece until it eventually becomes soft, then swallow it. Whole. Then choke it back up, chew some more and swallow it whole again. Repeat until it goes down and stays down. This is not healthy and not very safe and I always have to be poised to remove the offending chunk of soft wet rawhide from his throat as he gags it up. He does love these chews but I have not seen any wonderful changes in his teeth so far with 2 weeks of daily use so it will not be worth the trouble or risk of choking for me to buy more once this bag is gone. I now wish I had gotten the smaller quantity bag so I could be done with these sooner!Edited to add that I finally finished the whole bag and still didnt see any big changes to his teeth or gums. Also, the coating comes off on his white legs and my carpet and they make his breath smell weird (not fresh, kind of medicine like). I will never buy these again.

Our "Puppy" Loves Them May 25, 2011

Our "puppy" (90lb Rhodesian Ridgeback) has been using these daily for a couple of months. I originally purchased them through our vet but found the price to be better on Amazon. Our puppy loves them and knows that she gets a new one everyday so she will wait by the pantry door after dinner for hers. We will see at our next vet visit if it is improving her dental hygiene.

Dogs like the product but it is not a long lasting chew. My mild chewer who isn't a fan of chews takes only about 1-2 hours to go through the large chew (a size bigger than recommended). If I gave this to a large aggressive chewer it would have been gone in no time flat. But since my picky eater enjoys it I will continue to purchase as a treat once in a while (can't afford to buy regularly). Price is also ridiculously high for what you get. Especially since the ingredients are very simple and basic.

I have a 7 month old cavapoo, he is about 19 pounds. I have searched high and low for a safe long lasting chew. I was at a pet expo and decided to give this product a try. OMG my dog loves these. It takes him at the least 3 or 4 hours to complete sometimes it seems most of the day. I occasionally take it away after he's been at it for several hours to give him a break, and then give it back to him later. I buy the larger ones, there is no smell and usually there are a few tiny pieces to be picked up off of the floor after he's finished.

Although these are a quality dog treat please be aware that these do contain chicken. I did not see this ingredient listed on the product page. This is just to advise those pet parents if your kiddo has a poultry or chicken allergy like mine do that every variety to date contains both chicken and natural chicken flavor.The ingredients are as followed for the Puppy Health varietyIngredients:Organic brown rice powder, rice powder, vegetable glycerin, gelatin, water, tapioca starch, chicken, natural chicken flavor, fat product (natural source of DHA from algae), organic oat fiber, dehydrated carrots, organic flaxseed, alfalfa, cranberries, calcium carbonate, cinnamon, parsley, chia seed, carrageenan (natural seaweed extract), peppermint.

I also love that it has cranberries in it to help my little girl's urinary health; and DHA to help her developing brain. My 4 month old Lhasa Apso puppy, Alexi, goes crazy for these! She polishes a small one off in about 15 minutes. I've considered getting the large ones to keep her chewing longer, but I worry that they might be a bit too big. These are a fantastic value and are much cheaper than similar brands. I tried the CET dental chews, and they made her terribly sick (and I won't consider Greenies at any age due to the ingredients). Alexi eats a corn-free, gluten-free, wheat-free, soy-free diet, and these fit the bill perfectly. She eats Canidae Lamb and Rice as her food and gets these and Zuke's for treats and chews. I'm happy to have a puppy in great health, and I am relieved to find something that she loves to chew on while her mouth hurts from teething. Also, these don't leave a mess on my carpet, and they sit perfectly on her little tummy. Really, I am addicted to this product. Also, the price is great for 18 of them! I got the antioxidant ones for my Mom to give to her older dogs.

My Pomeranian Hates These October 19, 2011

My pomeranian is very fussy so don't take my review as a bad review. All dogs are different and have different tastes and habits. I'm simply stating I had to give these away to another dog family because my pom would not eat them.

Smells great! Little messy though.
I have a sensitive nose and can't stand the smell of puppy breath, but these really help a lot. They smell very faintly of peppermint with a slight sweet twist to it. Read more
