I have a 1 year old lab/Shepard mix and she is a very active chewer. I ordered the CET chews to keep her teeth clean. She absolutely loves the flavor, but because the rawhide is so thin, she tears them in half and tries to swallow them in large pieces. The first time she did it, I thought maybe it was a one time deal. I saw her choking and stuck my hand down her throat to remove a piece of rawhide blocking her throat. Just today, she choked again, and I wasn't able to pull it out but in my efforts I must have shoved it down and she could breath again. It is a very scary moment to see your dog choking and gasping for air. My dog was looking to me for help and once her throat cleared she laid in my lap for 30 minutes...I am guessing it traumatized her. I threw the rest of the bag in the trash. My dog also has loose stool whenever she ate these, but she does have a sensitive stomach to certain foods so I am sure results will vary. I will stick with brushing her teeth and getting her teeth annually by the vet.
My dog - 70 pounds, 1 year old lab/Shepard mix. She eats the beef Orijen food blended with California natural.

My dog Taro is now three and a half and I see these chews at the Vet clinic I go to. I also see that this product has really great reviews so I am sure that it works for most people's dogs and people love the product...I just urge you to be very cautious if you purchase this chew and stay with your dog when they are chewing on it. I just wanted to edit this review because the risk is so high with these chews that I felt compelled to warn potential buyers of the product.
I think the manufacturer should at a minimum put a strong warning on the front of the bag to warn owners that this can pose a major choking hazard to some dogs. This would be the responsible thing to do. Pet products are not regulated like products for human use. Most people like me view their pets as children and essential to their lives. If this were made for children, the danger of this product would make news and force the manufacturer to address the choking hazard.
It also seems fishy that almost all of the 5 star reviews are from people with 1-4 reviews on other products. Plus the number of "is this useful votes" is usually less than 5 votes. It seems as these reviewers are fake...just seems fishy to me. I hope this isn't the case because they would be toying with the danger of killing our dogs.

I loved these chews until today... and so did my 40 lb akita puppy. These are great for keeping your dogs teeth clean and my dog loves them! She runs to her cushion and sits down as soon as I grab the bag from the shelf. However, the major problem with them is that my dog attempts to swallow them as soon as she can and has almost choked on one twice now. The first time I easily pulled it out of her throat but today it almost killed her. I should have known better because I'd been told as much by many people at my vets (one dog even choked to death) but the reviews online were so good I didn't listen. I always watch my dog with chews but even under supervision she will try and swallow them ASAP. These are great for your dogs teeth but please watch your dog!
Also, the sizes are very inconsistent... in the four bags I've ordered to date I've had to throw a large number out (basically one full bags worth) because they are too small to even attempt to give to my dog.

My dog was found on the street near death close to 8 years ago.
Besides being starved, she had suffered a severe knee injury which we have been doctoring over the years. Besides joint supplements, she was getting buffered aspirin "as needed" which ended up being several times per week. She was having trouble getting up, and would limp for a while, until the leg/knee loosened up.
Back in the middle of 2008, our vet shared a sample of PhyCox-JS with me -- said it was something new. It was close to what I was using -- but had two additional ingredient - Boron and Phycox®. Within a week or so, our Nicky stopped limping when she first got up, and I haven't found the need to use Aspirin since. At nearly 12 years old, This Chesapeake Bay Retriever loves to run and can beat most youngsters at the dog park to the ball.
I have recommended this to many of my friends with older, arthritic dogs, and they too are seeing the great effects of this product.
Yesterday, at our regular vet's visit, I was told that had it not been for the Phycox-JS softchews, by now we would have been facing reconstructive surgery on that knee Before the Phycox, I was told that knee surgery could not be a consideration because she was also having hip problems, and with the surgery, she would have started favoring the bad hip
Nicky is a Certified Service Dog and Therapy Dog, and we are always out. Most people take her for a much younger dog To me Phycox-JS is a miracle drug.

I am a skeptical of expensive wonder drugs, but Fido will always win my heart. Bailey, my 12 year old Corgi now acts like a 2 year old dog again... it took max dosages for 5-6 weeks, but he now scuddles thru the house and seemingly is fluid-like. His energy level has increased and his mobility seems more in line with a younger dog. Could 12 be the new 6? Where is the human version of this stuff!?

My two Labs have devoured in minutes just about every "indestructible" dog chew on the market. I really thought that nothing could stand up to their grinders, until I discovered Big Chews. If you've tried other Nylabone products without long-term success, don't worry. My dogs can easily make a meal of those, but not of Big Chews. They last for months and months. In fact, I'm just about to buy a couple, and that's the first time in at least a year.
If you think there is nothing your chewsy pup can't destroy in weeks, days, or even hours, try a Big Chew. They're expensive, but not in the long run.
There are a couple of different shapes, but I've only ever used (well, not me personally) the Beef Bone. (Despite the name, it doesn't have a smell or leave any kind of residue on the carpet.) The Dino Bone doesn't look like it's made of the same material, and the Turkey Leg has a skinny end that I think will get chewed down to a spike.

We have a large (100lb) yellow lab who constantly chews bones. We have bought several nylabones in the past that have met their demise literally a week later. However, this line of bones is incredible - it actually takes him several months to even wear down an edge of this bone, much less the entire bone. Worth the money, I can't recommend this enough!

I purchased Synovi G3 120 count soft chews from Entirely Pets and there were wood chips in many of the chews. I've previously purchased Synovi from vets and also from Medi-Vet through Amazon with great success. My 3 dogs absolutely love the chews and they do help them a great deal. When I received the Entirely Pets order, at first my dogs ate them, but then they started refusing to eat them. I found wood chips twice in chews my dogs wouldn't eat but thought they came off my floor. Then I smashed a chew straight out of the container and it had several chunks of wood in it! Do NOT buy from this vendor. They've refused to take my calls or respond to this complaint. I still have contaminated chews left. BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE
Update Janary 2009: I contacted Synovi G3's manufacturer, IVX Animal Health and shipped them the remaining chews I had from Entirely Pets. They initiated a quality investigation and sent me a letter stating the following. "Inspection of the returned complaint samples showed some inconsistencies between the product you returned to us and the product in our current inventory. We believe that these inconsistencies may be related to the manner in which this product was purchased. IVX Animal Health recommends that our products be purchased ony through your veterinarian. IVX regrets any inconvenience this incident may have caused." In my conversation with the company, they told me that they do not sell directly to any of the companies who are selling on Amazon.

We have a mini-dachsund who had back surgery in May '06. He recovered farily well but always had a bit of a "wobble". Six weeks ago he became very inactive, lost his loving personality and looked to be in a lot of pain. Our vet said recurrence is not unusual and that limiting activity along with Synovi G3 was the best we could do without considering more surgery. His improvement since then is wonderful. He is back to his old self, interacting with his sister and our family and his licker has regained it's sneaky attacks. We still limit his activity, (no more charging the back fence to yap at intruders), but I feel the Synovi has played the greater part in his recovery. Highly recommended and about 40% less than the vet when purchased on line.

Although these are a quality dog treat please be aware that these do contain chicken. I did not see this ingredient listed on the product page. This is just to advise those pet parents if your kiddo has a poultry or chicken allergy like mine do that every variety to date contains both chicken and natural chicken flavor.

Ingredients:
Organic brown rice powder, rice powder, vegetable glycerin, gelatin, water, tapioca starch, chicken, natural chicken flavor, fat product (natural source of DHA from algae), organic oat fiber, dehydrated carrots, organic flaxseed, alfalfa, cranberries, calcium carbonate, cinnamon, parsley, chia seed, carrageenan (natural seaweed extract), peppermint.

My pomeranian is very fussy so don't take my review as a bad review. All dogs are different and have different tastes and habits. I'm simply stating I had to give these away to another dog family because my pom would not eat them.

We have three Golden Retrievers from age 1 /2 - 6 years old. We located this product at a large Christmas craft fair last December. We brought two of them home to give to the two older dogs. They absolutly LOVE them.!
They'll get tired of their toys but when we bring out this ELK ANTLER chew, they get all excited and could chew away for hours (if we let them. It's amazing how long they have lasted! These are a GREAT VALUE for the money considering that we have not had to buy any other chew sticks, etc. for them all year long.
We also met the owner and creator of this product at the fair. A very nice gentleman who is genuinely interested more in the pets health ; happiness vs. just trying to make a sale.
I cannot imagine dog owner being disappointed.

We've been purchasing Elk Antlers for our 50lb labradoodle for over a year now, he's a very aggressive chewer and there are few toys that he doesn't get through quickly (5 minutes for a black kong...). The local store's price on the antlers went through the roof -- $30 for a "jumbo" which was very thin and only about 7" long! So, I went in search of a more reasonable seller and found these via Amazon. I ordered one for 50-75lb dog -- it's about 1.5" diameter and 8-9" long. My dog has been chewing on it avidly for 2 weeks and there's little sign of wear, so the quality is equal to the overpriced ones from the local store, at less than half the price. Overall, I'm very pleased and will definitely be purchasing more of these. Very highly recommend for any avid chewer!

DO NOT BUY FROM ENTIRELY PETS Synovi G3 is a great product and has helped my dogs tremendously. I've purchased from vets and from other companies on Amazon with great success. BUT, I purchased soft chews from ENTIRELY PETS and my dogs refused to eat them. Several times I found tiny pieces of wood on the chews where my dogs spit them out but I thought perhaps it was tracked into my house. Then I split a chew out of the container and it had 3 tiny chunks of wood in it! The company refuses to discuss and the manager won't call me back. BEWARE THIS COMPANY AND BUY SYNOVI G3 FROM SOMEONE ELSE!

i gave my 8 y/o lab/shepherd mix glucosamine pills religiously with little results. my vet suggested these chews and after 2 weeks i noticed a HUGE improvement in my dog's movement. no more difficulty standing up after rest periods, runs up the stairs past me, pulls me around the neighborhood. it's great would highly recommend this product and the vendor to anyone with a large dog with genetic disposition for joint problems or previous injury/surgery.

This is a great toy! My 3 1/2 mo. old Welsh Corgi puppy loves it, along with several other nylabone products. Unlike some of the other toys out there, it's holding together well and gives him hours - literally! - of chewing pleasure. Which gives me hours of relief from barking and other signs of puppy frustration. This, along with his nylabone keys and triple rings, are constant companions...and the older dogs like them too...although, I'm not certain this is a good thing as it incites puppy barking when they steal it from him... ;-)

I purchased this one for my 10 wk old chihuahua pup who's not a terribly aggressive chewer unless he's in active playtime. He's about a pound in weight at the moment and will be about 4lbs at maturity. These were harder than the clear flexi-bone he occasionally uses if I encourage playtime, and gummier in texture than the really really hard dura-chew, which don't work for me at all.
It was also too large, although it said "puppy pacifier" and in my experience they were too hard for him at this stage, but I will save to offer in later months. I have now realized that although it comes in different sizes, the size in inches or at all were not specified. I got the one labeled "small".
Pros:
-Bacon scent is only obvious if toy is held right up to your nose, which is pleasantly discreet.
-Great if your dog is a very aggressive chewer.
If you have a small toy breed (1lb-5lb), this toy may be too large and/or hard.

Our 1 year old, 18 lb chewing fanatic destroys most toys within minutes. We can't even think of buying anything that squeaks or has stuffing. This toy has survived the Willow tooth test and she likes the rattling sound it makes when she carries it. This one is a winner for an aggressive chewer!

I bought this for my small dog (chewer) and he didn't give this a first glance. He won't even pick it up, let alone play with it. It may be something that a larger dog will like, but small (6-8 lbs) may find it too hard to chew on. He is a strong chewer, but this is a harder plastic than any other the other chew toys I have for him (that he likes).

We've had several nylabones for our dogs. They loved chewing on them and the bones seemed to hold up very well--until a piece broke off and lodged in the small intestine of my dachsund. Since it's plastic, it doesn't show up in x-rays and the blockage wasn't identified until it was too late. Always supervise your pet when they are chewing anything that can be chewed up!

This bone is the tops and best of all not expensive. I have bought many different toys for my dog and he destroys them all within a few days. This bone is great because it has actually lasted over two weeks and is still going strong. The ends are getting chewed up but at a very slow pace. My guess is this will easily last a month or two, if not longer. My dog also absolutely loves chewing on this. If he is inside sitting around this bone is in his mouth being chewed. That is why I am so surprised it has lasted this long. Usually if my dog chews something for a whole day it would be in a million pieces. The only other toy that has been able to last this long is a king size kong, but my dog won't even look at it twice unless it is packed with treats.

Verbac products in general have been SUPERIOR in my opinion, especially the HEXtra chews. I thought I'd give these VeggieDent Chews a try for some variety. Here's the problem - since these are marketed as a means to clean a dogs teeth, I would expect them to last a while during which the chewing and gnawing action would indeed help the dogs teeth, but here's the snag, I have a small-to-medium size dog and he went through one of these chews in minutes, whereas the HEXtra chews last much longer. There wasn't any "chewing" involved, the dog just bit the VeggieDent Chew and it breaks off into smaller semi-sharp shards and only chews momentarily then its gone. I would have expected these chews to have a more chewy consistency rather than a hard consistency so a dog couldn't just bite through the chew and swallow the smaller pieces. I cannot possibly fathom any benefit to the dog's teeth in terms of removing plaque or reducing tarter. I wouldn't buy these again and will stick with the HEXtra line of chews.

My dog has been eating CET rawhide for years. However, I feel better when there is a vegetarian option that is still to her liking. These fit the bill.

My wife ; I religiously bought dental dinos for our corgi. He is a powerful, obsessive chewer that tore anything else apart that we gave him. He's been through many over the years. Recently, on a routine visit to the vet, they found that both of his molars on top were cracked ; infected. They are currently performing root canals on each. If the root canals do not work,they'll have to pull his most important chewing teeth. The vet (who is a dental specialist) said that the injuries were directly related to this product. A $2000 bill and a pup with no molars. Sad day. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

This dinosaur lasts a long time - incredible with the way my dog chews. And he doesn't seem to lose interest in it, no matter how raggedy it looks. He likes the little knobbies on it because of the texture. He always finds where this thing is hidden and chomps away on it. I definitely recommend this dinosaur if you have a serious chewer.

I was worried that my cat would not like these and was hesitant to buy this many. I purchased a smaller bag and my cat LOVES them.
So I purchased this much larger bag at Amazon's much better price via Amazon from Entirely Pets. Again, I was worried about the seller based on other comments. But they were ordered on Sunday, and I got them Tuesday morning - they ship from Fremont, CA. The expiration date on the bag is 16 months from now, about what I would get in any retail store. So I've just not experienced any problems with this seller or this product.
The manufacturer admits that brushing your cat's teeth is much better, and I do that about every other day. This product ensures that there is at least something done for his teeth every day. And trust me, my cat does not let me forget to give him one of these every night. He'll claw at my legs until I do and his claws are sharp!
By the way, one tip for cat owners: many of an older cat's problems are due to the propensity of most cats not to drink enough water: kidney and teeth problems are common. I feed my cat only a teaspoon of wet food a day, smothered in about 2 ounces of water. He drinks the wet-food-flavored water and only then gets to eat the wet food. My cat is 19 years old (the average cat lives to be about 12-14 years old) and has had no major health problems. However, the teeth cleanings are getting to be too stressful for him, so I've taken to these treats and brushing his teeth to try to spread out the cleanings.

My cats love these treats so much they tried to eat right through the bag. They get one a day, and I noticed a definite improvement in their breath within the first week.

This product USED to be as good as the name brand Synovi G3 soft chews from DVM products, I tested the 2 side by side. However, when I reordered this Joint MaxTS softchews the manufacturer added SOY oil to the formulation (on the package label) but they did NOT update the ingredient list on this website! My German Shepherd is allergic to proteins in soy and has had diarrhea for months, and I have finally figured out why! My understanding is that most dogs have soy allergies. Also, many pet food manufacturers are sneaking soy bean oil into foods because it is a cheap, abundant product. So the good reviews here are old news about this product, and this new formulation is bad for dogs- even such a small amount of soy. Be very careful.

We have a 12 year old Ridgeback with hip displasia. We were on Synovi G3's for years and our dog was doing great without any mobility problems.
We switched to this product (Joint Max) via a coupon that came with the Synovi G3 brand and it's been all downhill from there. We're only halfway through the 240 count Joint Max, and our dog can barely get up.
Your mileage my vary, but for us, the G3 brand was much more effective. We're switching back to it immediately.

I'm on my second generation of cats who are growing up using CET Chews. Have you ever tried to brush your cats teeth? If not, trust me, it's not much fun for you or the cat. Still, you've got to do something to help their teeth and gums stay in good shape. That's where the "Chews" come in. My cats think they're getting a treat and mob me when I go for the bag. It took them a couple of tries to figure out the pieces were supposed to be chewed up and eaten, but I simply crumbled up a "chew" and they quickly caught on.
Do they work? Perhaps not as well as brushing, but I can tell you that it cut down on the number of times that my cats needed dental help. Before I started using them I had one cat lose a tooth to decay who got yearly tooth cleaning. After I started the cats on the CET Chews NONE lost any teeth and rarely did they need special cleaning at the vet. They seem to work, and my cats think they're getting a treat instead of a treatment. We give them one "chew" once or twice a week. That seems to be often enough. This product is a winner!

CET Chews for Cats (poultry flavor)is an outstanding treat among our cats who now let us know when it is time for their dental treat. If we run out before the new shipment we get sad eyed looks, loud cries, and all the while following us around the house. Also far less plaque buildup - even on our Tonkinese and Abysinians - means fewer trips to the vet.

I read the positive reviews and I really liked the price so I ordered these rawhide chips. My yellow Labrador Retriever weighs 80 lbs and daily gets a rawhide chip (primarily Walmart generic brand) as a treat in the evening for years. My Lab will eat everything in sight (including socks) and never has stomach problems. After giving him only four rawhide chips in two days, my Lab developed a severe case of diarrhea and he's still sick after four days. He is an inside dog which makes it a real problem since he needs to go out hourly to do his business. Plus he's not feeling well and just lies around. I called the vet right away, and he recommended some immodium-type medication short term only. Since his appetite is fine and he isn't throwing up and he isn't getting any worse, his vet and I think he will be fine. The vet advised me to throw away the rest of the rawhide which I have done. I called Amazon.com and my money was cheerfully refunded which I greatly appreciate since I used the refund to buy the immodium medication.
This is just a warning to make sure you only give your dog one bone chip at a time and wait a day or so to make sure he can tolerate it. I don't know why these rawhides made my dog so sick but it could have been just a problem with this batch. I won't be buying this product again but I will definitely continue to buy from Amazon.com

I will admit that I was worried about buying these after reading the review from the person whose pup became sick after eating four of these, but I decided to take the risk and carefully monitor my own pup. My 3-month old Golden Retriever puppy came to me with giardia (for which he has been treated, but at the time, he was still experiencing some problems), so I didn't want anything to exacerbate his gastro issues. I'm relieved (no pun intended) to say that my puppy, along with my two Great Pyrenees, and my gimpy old lab/husky mix, have all four gone through this 5-lbs package of rawhides (in just a little over a month) with no problems at all. I sent some home with my mother for her terrier mix and for my sister's doberman, and they've had no problems, either.
The rawhides are a good mix of small and relatively thin, along with a some (more than half of) which are larger and thicker. There is no odd (eg., chemical) smell coming from the rawhides, and the bag is resealable - like a giant ziploc bag. I'm placing my third order (sent one bag to mom and sis for their dogs); the quality is excellent and the value is unbeatable.
August 2011 Update: I have had these on a monthly auto-shipping order for several months, but the last two shipments were bags with rawhide chips that are almost entirely small and thin, and have not included the larger ; thicker pieces I mentioned earlier. I hope the next shipment will bring back the larger pieces. If it does not, I do not think I will continue to purchase these. They are fine for small to medium dogs, but are simply too small for my 70+ lbs animals, and they just don't last very long.
December 2011 Update: The last three shipments have seen a return to a more diverse sizing of the chips. I expect that there will continue to be some variability, but I am especially pleased with this month's bag, since it has many of the thicker chips I prefer for my big dogs. These thicker chips might be less than ideal for the smallest of dogs, though I think most determined pups would be okay with them. I plan to continue to receive this bag on a once-a-month automatic shipping order for the foreseeable future; I think it might be possible to make this bag last more than a month even giving all four of my dogs one chip a day, but we're never that orderly, and I find that I'm usually out of chips several days before a new shipment. With fewer dogs, you can expect this bag to last several months.

Ok¡K The vet recommended Glyco-Flex III Soft Chews by Vetri-Science for our Bull Mastiff Sierra. She was doing GREAT since her life expectancy is 8 and she is 11 but we wanted to make sure her joints were ok. The bag recommends 5 per day for a dog her size but we started only giving her one to slowly introduce her to it. We did notice that she would play with the other dogs a little and seemed to feel great.
Over the last 3 days I noticed Sierra is being a NUT! She is running around like a puppy and super playfull! I asked my boyfriend what the heck is going on with her? He said he started giving her 2 chews a day about a month ago! Holly Molly WHAT A DIFFERENCE! Our old ¡§granny dog¡¨ is following him all around the house all day like it is dinner time and jumping up on him doing her happy dance. This stuff is GREAT and she LOVES the taste of them! So¡K If you have a Granny Dog¡K you should try this stuff! º

It's your dog. He or she can't really talk to you, but you know when they are hurting. Is the Glyco-Flex the reason she seems to be not limping anymore when she first gets up? Is it because she had an injury that was not readily apparent, and has now healed? It's hard to prove, but if you determine for yourself that you either want or need this product for your best friend, then you may as well not go broke!
What a great deal for the price! She looks forward to each dose, and you could easily spend as much on some treats.

Our Mini-Schnauzer has a very sensitive stomach and can only tolerate 100% chicken treats. These treats are the answer to our treat prayers. They are apparently one of the only USA made chicken treats and the price is awesome for the quality. The ingredients are Chicken and Smoke Flavor. End of the ingredient list. No mystery and questionable Chinese parts.
There is a bad review because these are too "crumbly." Do you want all the mystery ingredients added back in to make it chewy? They're great as is!
I can't thank this company enough for making these!

My Irish Setter, Lucy and my Gordon Setter, Duke love these. It is definitely the favorite treat in the house. I was looking for a chicken jerky treat that was made in America. So many of the other dog chicken treats on the market come from China. Who buys chicken from China I also like these because they don't pack on the calories like most dog biscuits or cookie treats. It's pure protein. Our dogs are spoiled...we purchase a case of Chicken True Chews per month.

I purchased based on reviews here and elsewhere about all the wonderful things these chews accomplished on dogs teeth and the price per unit was so much less than the "Greenies" I have been using. Upon receipt I immediately noticed that these are just large rawhide strips with a coating on them. They are not even particularly thick rawhide. Rawhide in any form is very dangerous and you must monitor your dog very closely when they are chewing on these. My Great Dane is not a "swallow whole" kind of eater - he tries to chew up even the tiniest training treats before swallowing them, BUT with rawhide strips like these he will chew on the whole piece until it eventually becomes soft, then swallow it. Whole. Then choke it back up, chew some more and swallow it whole again. Repeat until it goes down and stays down. This is not healthy and not very safe and I always have to be poised to remove the offending chunk of soft wet rawhide from his throat as he gags it up. He does love these chews but I have not seen any wonderful changes in his teeth so far with 2 weeks of daily use so it will not be worth the trouble or risk of choking for me to buy more once this bag is gone. I now wish I had gotten the smaller quantity bag so I could be done with these sooner!
Edited to add that I finally finished the whole bag and still didnt see any big changes to his teeth or gums. Also, the coating comes off on his white legs and my carpet and they make his breath smell weird (not fresh, kind of medicine like). I will never buy these again.

I think the descriptions of products should have where they are made. If I had known these dog chews were made in Mexico, I would not have bought them.

We have six assorted sized dachshunds all heavy chewers. This is the favorite toy/treat of all six. Even though there are always more than enough bones to go around they always want the bone another dog has. They will patiently watch each other and as soon as the one chewing on bone loses interest they will swoop in and grab the bone for themselves. They all get excited when we open a new pack. We buy the three pack.

we have an intense chew lab pup and this bone has lasted a good amount now..we add a big of peanut butter to it and then she chews for a while..good value..still have other 2 bones to give her after almost a month
